1. Our Copyright Philosophy

PianoNotes.in is a free educational music resource. All piano notes and sargam tutorials published on this website are:

  • Independently created by our educators for educational purposes only
  • Written in our own notation format and not copied from any sheet music or licensed material
  • Intended to help beginners learn how to play, not to replace or reproduce original works

We do not publish, distribute, or reproduce any copyrighted audio recordings, sheet music scans, or licensed digital content.


2. Copyright Infringement Notification (DMCA Takedown)

If you are a copyright owner (or authorized to act on behalf of one) and you believe that content on PianoNotes.in infringes your copyright, please submit a written DMCA Notice to us with the following information:

  1. Identification of the Copyrighted Work: Clearly describe the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed (e.g., song title, sheet music, image, etc.)
  2. Identification of Infringing Material: Provide the exact URL(s) on PianoNotes.in where the allegedly infringing material is located
  3. Your Contact Information: Include your full legal name, mailing address, phone number, and email address

  5. Statement of Accuracy: A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
  6. Signature: Your physical or electronic signature

We aim to respond to all valid DMCA notices within 48–72 business hours.


3. Our Response to Valid DMCA Notices

Upon receiving a valid and complete DMCA notice, PianoNotes.in will:

  • Review the notice and the allegedly infringing content within 48–72 hours
  • If the claim is valid, remove or disable access to the infringing content promptly
  • Notify the user who posted the content (if applicable)
  • Maintain a record of all notices received as required by law

Incomplete or invalid notices (missing required information) may not be acted upon until corrected and resubmitted.


4. Counter-Notification Procedure

If you believe your content was removed in error or misidentified as infringing, you may submit a Counter-Notification. Your counter-notice must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature
  2. Identification of the removed material and the location where it appeared before removal
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
  4. Your name, address, phone number, and email address
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located

5. Repeat Infringers Policy

PianoNotes.in has a zero-tolerance policy toward repeat copyright infringement. In accordance with the DMCA, we will terminate the accounts or access of users who are found to be repeat infringers.


6. Fair Use and Educational Disclaimer

Some content on PianoNotes.in may be covered under Fair Use (U.S. Copyright Law, Section 107) or Fair Dealing (Indian Copyright Act, Section 52), as it is used for:

  • Non-commercial educational purposes
  • Commentary, criticism, or instructional use
  • Transformative use (original notation arrangements)

However, we take all copyright claims seriously and will review each case individually.


7. No False Claims
